And look, for I am the Amber and the Gold, the one I seem and the one you think not I be. The luxury-lover of a noble and the crafter, and the poet, and the ignorant, and the lady, and the enthantress.
And look, for I am not the one you think me to be. Neither of us is.
I am Ambergold.
Dedicated to *Iardacil, the best manipper I know and a lovely dreamer.
I've wanted to do this picture for almost a year. Finally I had the Photoshop, the stock, and the skills I think I needed. I am really proud of it, because it was almost as complicated as A Secret Garden. I tend to blend the layers as I work, but there must have been over thirty of them. Time... ten hours, maybe more. Not sure any more.
In the beginning I thought it would be a manip about Fool, the epicmost character of The Farseer and The Tawny Man trilogies by Robin Hobb. After searching for the perfect model everywhere I finally found it. My idea was to portray him/her somewhen between being Amber and lord Golden, that is, still a crafter, already a noble and utterly ambiguous. However, time passed and the idea became something else. I am not quite sure what, but I like it.
Intriguingly, this seems to be the fourth manip of my accidental seasonal mini-series. It has summer in it, after all. Although maybe I'll do something else that has summer feeling.
